I adore photographing in the snow, but it’s rare to have a scheduled shoot on a day it’s actually going to snow. But on the Sunday after Christmas, it finally happened, and in a blizzard no less. Charlie and Tara were troopers though, even in snow that was falling sideways. And they managed to fake that they were warm, and not being pelted in the eyes with snow flakes.
I had the pleasure of working with Sarah again, a previous bride, who you may remember from her fabulous wedding in 2008. However this time, I got to check out her brand new fabric shop in the SoWA district.
And this ain’t your grandma’s fabric store, Grey’s Fabric & Notions offers modern fabrics, open studio in the afternoons, private lessons, and group glasses. Check her out on Facebook and Twitter for class schedules, dress making is on December 30th and January 6th!
Liz and Betsy were my last wedding of 2010, and it was a fabulous way to finish up the season. I had never had the opportunity to work at Smith Barn before, but it’s a really neat place to host an event. I shoot a fair amount of farm weddings, because I adore them, and this location didn’t let me down. Brooksby Farm is also just down the road, so we wandered over there and made a few new friends. Well really Liz and her bouquet made a few new friends. Thanks for letting me be a part of your day Liz and Betsy!
Nikki and Jason had the last really colorful wedding of my season, although November hung on longer than I thought it would. So after their ceremony we took advantage of some of the already fallen leaves, and did a little play off of one of their engagement photos.
There are a lot of things to talk about from Jaimie and Josh’s wedding, but to name a few… I absolutely love when couples get ready together in their home. For wedding photographers, it’s environmental portraiture at its best. I also love a good color photograph, and their wedding exploded color! As for details, I adored their table cards in a card catalog drawer. For two people who work in a library, this couldn’t be more appropriate. And finally, can we talk about the tomato soup shooter and mini grilled cheese hors d’ oeuvres, ridiculously amazing!
