Jeannine + Derek Engaged

Jeannine and Derek just live up the street from Coolidge Corner, and wanted to wander the neighborhood they spend the most time in for their engagement session.  This was also a good challenge for me, because I walk these same streets almost everyday as well, and sometimes you stop really seeing your environment when it’s your everyday routine.  And as it turned out, even I found some new places in our neighborhood.

Yeawon + Ming-Jen Engaged

Ming-Jen sought me out a few weeks ago to do an engagement session with he and his lady Yeawon.  They’re off to Korea and Taiwan in July for their wedding celebrations, and wanted to take some photos around Boston to share with their family and friends back home.  Here are a few highlights of our shoot in and around the Boston Public Library, and the Christian Science Center.

Invitations

For those of you who don’t know, I’m getting married next year!  And this is fabulous for many reasons, obviously!  But it’s also been a great learning experience for me.  I know a lot about weddings from the prospective of a photographer, however, I’m also realizing just how much my couples are planning outside of their details with me.  And for my fellow OCD planners, I don’t know how you do it without a lot of help from planners, wedding blogs, and previously married friends.  I’m fortunate to know the right places to look for advice, so I thought I would share our invitations.

I don’t recommend taking on a project like this for hundreds of guests.  However, if you’re having a small, intimate wedding, I say think outside of the 2-D box, and create something really unique for your guests.

Taking a save the date idea from Martha Stewart, and working it into our invitation, really got me thinking sculpturally.  I then found doll suitcases, map stickers from Paper Source, and pearl business cards, for the bulk of the written information.

Now, onto the dress!

Jess + Sam Engaged

I met up with Jess and Sam at Spy Pond in Arlington last night, for what turned out to be a fun, and rather lovely session.  (When I wasn’t tripping over tree roots, and almost falling in the lake.)  If you’ve ever seen me shoot, you know I don’t exactly pay attention to my surroundings, and get rather wrapped up in what’s happening through my viewfinder.  But hey, whatever gets the shot right!

Thanks so much Jess and Sam for climbing through woods, up hills, and down into the lake!
