Jeremy and Josh kicked off my 2013 season at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, and it was awesome! Jeremy’s attention to detail paid off throughout the entire day, but how awesome does their reception look!? I also love a good bow tie and a well fitted suit, looking sharp guys!

Diana + Chris Engaged

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it one hundred times, I adore engagement sessions in couples homes. Two weeks ago I met up with Diana and Chris in the South End for a little pre-wedding portrait session. We hung out inside, on their roof deck, strolled around the neighborhood, and finally finished up by preparing a favorite dish they picked up in Italy over their engagement last fall.

Also, how adorable is Diana’s mint colored dress with orange accents!? Love.

Marathon Monday

Four years ago I snapped my first photo at the Boston Marathon (seen at the end of this post) and I’ve been captivated ever since. This year however I was not only there to see the incredible endurance of the elite runners, but also to cheer on a good friend, Nancy Gould, who raised over $13,000 for Dana-Farber and cancer research! Her run was unfortunately stopped a few blocks short when tragedy struck, so in light of all of the horrific images we’ve seen, and whatever nonsense is happening on the courthouse right now, here are just a few shots from Monday to remind us all that the Boston Marathon is still one of the greatest sporting events in the world.

I adore books, and I believe in books, despite the love I have for my iPad. And it’s becoming ever more important to preserve photography in a tangible way. When is the last time you popped that picture DVD into your computer? The day you received it? Never?

Winter in New England

First of all, I love snow. I love everything about snow. But for the first time (probably in my life) I was less than thrilled about the 2ft of snow Boston received in one lump sum last month. I had an 8AM flight scheduled out of Boston that weekend, but before it even started snowing, Logan Airport and the MBTA shutdown, and that was the end of my vacation.

After I skulked around my apt for a bit, I decided to make the best of things. So I threw on my snow pants and took advantage of what had transpired overnight. (Shot on Fujicolor Pro 400 film and Processed by Indie Film Lab.) To see more from the storm, feel free to check out my Instagram feed.

I am really bad at self promotion, but when it comes to my husband (drumming animal) all humility is lost, so here’s my shameless plug for a pretty killer American/Austrian band. In November 2012 Bernhard (master of all things bass) returned to the US to record whenairturnstowater’s second album Tell Better Stories, so I tagged along for a day to document some of the recording. Fast forward a few months, after several days of recording, several days of mixing and overseas mastering, whenairturnstowater is prepping for their tour of the Southwest next month, with a probable return to Europe again in the Fall.

Check out their newest album HERE and show these three guys, who’ve poured their hearts into this thing, some love! Personal favorites are tracks 1, 3, 4 and 9, but there’s a little something for everyone, so just give the album a listen!

2012 Travels

When I’m not photographing your wedding I’m probably traveling, or daydreaming about traveling, and until recently I’ve left my camera at home. I’m either in work mode or I’m not, so for the sake of my husband, and an actual vacation, I’ve left my work at work. But having picked up my old film cameras again, in combination with the iPhone, I can take one shot and move on. When I have my work camera on me it becomes a thing, I can’t simply take a photo and walk away, I have to take every possible angle, find the right light, debate if there’s a more interesting subject nearby, etc. Luckily though, an alternate camera brings with it a new attitude, so here are just a few of the many things I saw in 2012. From glaciers in Iceland, to the cliffs in Kauai, to simply wandering around Oregon, San Francisco and New England, I’m inspired to shoot what I love again, the world.

Half of these images are on Fujicolor Pro 400 film, processed and scanned by Richards Photo Lab. The other half of are from the glorious iPhone 4s, processed with Instagram. And surprisingly, they’re not all from the camera you would assume.

In 2012 I delivered 16,202 photos to clients, traveled to new places (a best of travel 2012 post to follow) and met a ton of fabulous people. Below is the tightest collection I could manage from a wedding season full of hundreds of amazing moments (for your sake, not all featured here.)
